Women in Nature (WIN) began in 2000 with the intention to bring women who do not traditionally have access into the outdoors. The specific focus on women in transition emerged when WIN joined Passages Northwest a few months later. Since that time, Women in Nature has impacted the lives of over 700 women facing difficult life transitions through hiking and snowshoeing trips in the Pacific Northwest. The mission of the Women In Nature program is to help each woman reflect on her own transition and to allow her to experience the healing power of nature in the company of other women. Each month we explore the beautiful Pacific Northwest through an easy day hike or snowshoe trip. Outdoor experiences are enhanced with group discussions and creative exercises.
Women in Nature, a program that serves women in transition, is now experiencing a major transition of its own. As of January 1, 2007, WIN is no longer a program of Passages Northwest. Instead we are our own independent organization. With the support of Passages Northwest, volunteers, and the community, we have already made significant progress in creating a sustainable and successful organization. Until we gain our own 501(c)(3) designation, Passages Northwest will be our fiscal sponsor.
